The world of patents is a far cry from many entrepreneurs. And yet, there are probably more startups that regret not paying attention to it in hindsight than vice versa. Therefore, we asked Marco Coolen to shine his light on this crucial topic once a week. The result is a series of blog posts that provide insight into the world of patents in an accessible way. How do they work, why are they essential, and when do they lose their usefulness? Read all of Marco's contributions so far here. A new episode is published every Sunday at 11:00 am.
Gerard & Anton High Tech Peak Awards
Every summer, we put 10 promising startups on a stage and build a party around them. We’ve called it the Gerard & Anton Awards. Every winter, we put the spotlight not on those startups but on the people who make it possible for those startups to thrive. We then hand out nine awards: four 'bangers' for people who have shown something special in the past year, four 'stars' for people from whom we expect a lot in the coming year, and 1 'peak', an oeuvre award.
Because of our roots in Brainport Eindhoven (and that region's exceptional achievements for innovation), these events have a highly local focus, but rest assured: the spotlights are always on the achievements. Moreover, we are always thinking of ways to broaden the focus further. Those who want to attend the next Peak event should order their ticket quickly. The Peak Awards will be presented on Jan. 9, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Philips Museum in, well, Eindhoven.
