The Netherlands and Singapore signed a new cooperation agreement to strengthen their collaboration in the semiconductor industry. Under this accord, the NL-SG Bilateral Working Group on Semiconductors has been established. This initiative is set to foster innovation, streamline supply chain operations, and support technological advancement in both nations.

This agreement between the Netherlands and Singapore aims to unite two of world leaders in the semiconductor field. The Netherlands' advanced semiconductor ecosystem, including companies such as ASML, ASM, and NXP, teams up with Singapore's production capabilities and global supply chain strength. With semiconductors playing a crucial role in everything from mobile phones to solar panels, such international collaboration is pivotal for technological progress and economic growth.

Objectives and initiatives

The NL-SG Bilateral Working Group on Semiconductors is tasked with fostering collaboration between government bodies, businesses, and research institutions in both countries. This group will prioritize accelerating innovation and improving supply chain logistics. Key collaborations include a partnership between Dutch semiconductor equipment firm BESI and Singapore's Institute of Microelectronics on advanced chip packaging, alongside new contracts secured by Sioux Technologies and MeetingSelect with Singaporean partners.

Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Dirk Beljaarts, emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration for economic growth and technological sovereignty. By working with global partners like Singapore, this initiative seeks to fortify the Netherlands' position in the semiconductor value chain.
