With scalable media, a proven engagement engine, and a thriving creator community, the company is at the forefront of the new wave of street culture engagement, helping athletes explore the best spots, facilitating real-life events, and creating authentic and measurable video content through E- contests. You can think of “Media-driven Strava” for street culture.
Ultra-scalable
“DSTF selects sports tech solutions seeking world dominance in their respective verticals. An ultra-scalable platform is to go hand in hand with a laser-sharp go-to-market strategy: that’s CityLegends,” said Alexander Janssen, CEO of Dutch Sport Tech Fund.
Jimmy Hermans, CityLegends CEO, points out, “Urban culture being included in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles is a great testament to the global recognition and appreciation for the athletic and creative abilities of its practitioners. Participation already matches that of traditional sports like football, basketball, and soccer, but the community is still wildly underserved in terms of digital tools. This new investment allows us to expand our platform and unite 200 million urban athletes and inspire 2 billion fans worldwide.”
Thijmen Verkerk, CityLegends CTO, added, “Our technology is about facilitating our community. We are creating the tools to meet on the streets, compete, progress, and showcase what we stand for.”
The investment will accelerate international expansion, further develop unique free- and premium features, and strengthen CityLegends B2B Media for brands and partners through scalable and supportive “culture playbooks.”
“Leansquare chose to invest in CityLegends as part of our dedicated entertainment tech investment thesis", said Bertrand Joiret, Investment Manager. "We believe CityLegends stands out as a specialized media platform for urban sports, serving a fast-growing, dynamic market. Their disruptive approach and innovative vision are perfectly aligned with our strategy to support projects that have the potential to reshape their industry. We are confident that CityLegends is uniquely positioned to become a leading reference in the urban sports media landscape.”
Joost Melis, Program Manager, LOF Brabant, concludes, “With the investment from the LOF Brabant in CityLegends, we are giving a powerful boost to the urban leisure culture.
