UNIIQ, South Holland's proof-of-concept investment fund, has announced six investments in promising startups, totaling €2.1 million. These strategic investments contribute to the further development of the companies involved and the broader innovation ecosystem in the region. Deputy Economy and Innovation Commissioner Meindert Stolk of the Province of South Holland announced this.

UNIIQ offers entrepreneurs the seed capital to realize their plans and bridge the most risky phase from concept to promising company.

The six startups

  • AVIGI Therapeutics (€350,000) is developing an innovative cancer treatment that inhibits an enzyme involved in tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance.
  • Leven Vision (€350.000) uses AI to automate the detection of parasitic infections, contributing to more efficient and reliable diagnostics.
  • 1NA (€350.000) develops the NanoLoom, a technology that visualizes protein-DNA interactions in real time and at the molecular level. This offers researchers new insights into complex biomedical processes.
  • ChatLicense (€350.000) is launching an app that acts as a digital “swimming certificate” for children, aiming to increase their digital resilience. The app also provides a comprehensive, supportive platform for parents and educators so that safety can be addressed on multiple fronts.
  • Fiducial (€350.000) develops advanced 3D positioning software and hardware for inspection purposes, with an initial focus on non-destructive testing (NDT) in industries such as aerospace, energy, and infrastructure.
  • SeaHiker (€350.000) is working on the “Jack-Up Leg Cushion” (JLC) system, a mechanical cushion system that improves the safety and handling of “Wind Turbine Installation Vehicles” (WTIVs). This allows these vessels to operate more frequently in poorer weather conditions, accelerating wind energy deployment.

The investments were festively announced in The Field Leiden, where the symbolic handover of the cheques took place. Meindert Stolk, deputy for Economy and Innovation for the province of South Holland, handed out a brick to each startup, symbolizing the building blocks of innovation and growth.

"These investments highlight the strength of Zuid-Holland as an innovative region. Whether medical breakthroughs, digital security, or sustainable energy, the startups we support show how technology can solve societal challenges. We are proud of UNIIQ's role in this and look forward to the impact these companies will make,“ said Meindert Stok

UNIIQ Fund Manager Jasper Geselschap: ”We are delighted to support these six innovative companies in laying a solid foundation for the future. Their technologies and solutions have the potential to make a significant impact in key sectors and contribute to strengthening the innovation climate in South Holland."
