With the opening of a new hub in Delft, TNO is doubling its testing capacity for quantum information technology. The expansion meets the growing need of Dutch start-ups for facilities to test quantum chips and hardware. This allows innovative solutions for quantum computing to be developed faster and more efficiently. The new hub is located in the heart of the Dutch quantum ecosystem and is partly funded by the National Growth Fund program Quantum Delta NL.
Quantum hardware
Testing quantum chips and other hardware is crucial for the development of reliable and efficient quantum computer systems. Chips form the basis of quantum computers and their performance directly influences the possibilities of quantum systems. Each element in the computing stack must integrate perfectly with the rest. This means that extensive, independent tests are needed to properly evaluate performance and compatibility. With expertise and access to testing facilities, TNO helps Dutch start-ups validate their designs and optimize performance so they can commercialize their products faster.
TNO CEO and Constantijn van Oranje
Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi, CEO TNO: “The opening of this new lab in the House of Quantum is in line with the coalition formed last month by TNO, Invest-NL and Techleap. Together, we are committed to promoting Dutch high-tech innovation, offering essential support to startups as they scale up to unicorns and making a significant impact.”
Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy Techleap: “Access to laboratory infrastructure is crucial for the growth and success of startups. The NTS Tech Champions emphasize that. With the expansion of the test facilities for quantum information technology, TNO offers Dutch startups the resources they need to accelerate their development and thus create a collaborative environment for future quantum solutions.”
