Today, the Rotterdam-based technology company Nearfield Instruments takes an essential step in its international growth by establishing Nearfield Instruments USA Inc. This expansion comes after winning multiple system orders from key U.S. customers. The flagship product QUADRA has been selected to develop the latest manufacturing technology with these customers, which, according to VP of Sales & Marketing Jeroen Verbiest, “is an excellent start for Nearfield's activities in the US.”
Focus on the semiconductor industry
The new U.S. subsidiary specializes in high-precision, non-destructive metrology and inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. Ceo Hamed Sadeghian emphasizes that this expansion shows their commitment to supporting global customers with advanced process control technology. This year, the company will open multiple offices and technical locations to facilitate customer support and collaboration with the semiconductor industry.
Earlier, the company indicated that expansion in the Netherlands is complex due to the lack of space and energy supply. The company was founded nine years ago as a spin-off from TNO. Nearfield Instruments develops highly accurate measuring equipment that can detect inaccuracies on a chip the size of a SIM card. There is a great need for this kind of measurement equipment; 100 billion transistors are placed on the most advanced chips.

Nearfield Instruments secures €135 million for semiconductor innovation
The funding round is the second largest capital raise in the semiconductor fabrication equipment market in Europe and the US in the past 5 years.
Global presence strengthened
With this strategic move, Nearfield Instruments has a commercial and operational presence on all continents relevant to the semiconductor industry. The company, headquartered in Rotterdam, already has offices in Eindhoven, Pyeongtaek (South Korea), and now in the United States. This expansion allows the company to better support the growing U.S. semiconductor manufacturing industry.
