During the Brainport Industries Congress on Thursday, October 9, Manon Pijnenburg presented the William Pijnenburg Award to KMWE, located at Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven. This prestigious award is presented annually by Brainport Industries College to a work-based learning company that distinguishes itself as a special ambassador for technical craftsmanship in the region.
KMWE was praised for its strong commitment to developing skilled workers, the quality of its workplace guidance, and its close collaboration with technical-vocational education. With this award, Brainport Industries College honors not only the winning company but also the lasting legacy of William Pijnenburg, who worked tirelessly to connect education and business.

In its report, the jury stated: “KMWE proves time and again that it is a technically strong and innovative company, as well as an organization that consciously invests in people, collaboration, and development. The transition to an even more open and learning culture is clearly underway. Its involvement in education and the region is impressively extensive. KMWE is therefore the rightful winner of the William Pijnenburg Award 2025.”
In addition to the winner KMWE, Edumar Metaalbewerking from Someren and Leenders RVS Industrie from Beek en Donk were also nominated. The jury praised all three companies as active leaders in their region and as drivers of technology promotion and training.
The William Pijnenburg Award recognizes companies that invest in people, in collaboration, and in the future of technology. Each year, an independent jury searches for the training company that truly stands out. Not only in terms of figures, but above all in terms of dedication to craftsmanship, talent development, and cooperation with the education sector. The jury consists of three committed professionals from the business community: Anke Meuffels (on behalf of the trade associations FME and Koninklijke Metaalunie), Peter Manders (on behalf of technical trainers in secondary vocational education), and Yvonne van Hest (director of Ergon).
