IO+ week: There we are!
Our weekly overview offers an overview of the most interesting stories around key innovations every Sunday.

As editor-in-chief, Aafke is ultimately responsible for the content of our platform, but she also likes to get into the pen herself. She is also responsible for the content of our events. She likes nothing better than explaining complicated things in an accessible way and is fond of telling the story of the people behind the technology.
There are many times when a person has to invent themselves. Sometimes, that is a choice; sometimes, it happens to you, and you have no choice: when you get a new job, lose someone, become a father or mother, or move to a new city.
For me, such a moment was 1.5 years ago when I became editor-in-chief. I am glad I said yes; I have learned much and still have much to learn.
Innovation Origins had to reinvent itself, not only me but also Innovation Origins. The result is IO+, the platform for innovation in the Netherlands and everyone involved in it, whether you are a startup entrepreneur, scientist, policymaker, or innovation enthusiast. We tell the story of Dutch innovation and organize events where this community can meet and learn from each other. Last week, we invited business partners, readers, friends, and family to Microstad to showcase our work.
Mauro and Elcke showed how they create their stories. Merien gave an insight into how we use AI. Family friend Fred Roozeboom told how to keep motivation high—even when you're of retirement age.
There were also team members who were not on stage but deserved at least as much credit. This would have been impossible without Linda Bak's pointed analyses and commitment. Frans van Beveren, thank you for putting in the last few months to make something fresh and cool. And when everyone is stressed, has lost something (especially me), or can't remember, Marieke Brouwers ensures everything works out.
I look back on a great evening and also enjoyed the (long) process leading up to it. I may even miss it a bit. But most of all, I look forward to creating beautiful stories with the team on our brand-new website.
AI & journalism: Martha Riemsma (CEO of ANP) x Bart Brouwers
Bart interviewed Martha Riemsma, the brand-new director of the ANP. Since early October, she has been the Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP) director. Before that, she was, among other things, editor-in-chief of TC Tubantia, a regional daily newspaper for Twente and the surrounding area, and had various other media roles. During our launch event, Riemsma gave a public interview about the position and future of journalism in an AI-dominated world. You can read that interview here.
