Five times 100,000 euros for sustainable consumer products

DOEN Foundation's Fair Future Challenge rewards entrepreneurs for their sustainable products and services.

Five Dutch entrepreneurs have won a cash prize of 100,000 euros in the Fair Future Challenge of the DOEN Foundation. They are Cooloo from Wanssum, Goodoo from Amsterdam, Jafix from Breda, Monkeys by the Sea from Bergen op Zoom and The Lekker Company from Utrecht. Out of no less than 758 entries, the jury praised their sustainable product or service and declared the winner.

During the Product Fair at the offices of the DOEN Foundation and the Postcode Lottery, 20 finalists presented their products and services to an audience including investors and buyers.

100,000 euros to make a sustainable and social impact

The jury evaluated all 20 finalists and looked at the potential of the products and services in the consumer market. In the end, they came up with these five winners:

Cooloo - Ricco Fiorito (circular commercial director) - Wanssum

Cooloo develops circular furniture and interior projects with residual materials such as leather, cork and jeans. With their Endless Life® technology, they make reuse and renovation easy for furniture, walls and floors.

Goodoo - Roderick Verplanken (CEO) - Amsterdam

Creamy, fruity and completely plant-based. Goodoo proves that ice cream can also be sustainable. Without added sugars, but with surprising flavors and ingredients such as cashew nuts and banana. A conscious choice for the future, without concessions to taste.

Jafix - Sieds Wijnja (director/owner) - Breda

Repairing becomes accessible and easy with Jafix. Whether it's a leaking faucet, broken clothing or a bicycle, this platform helps people get started themselves with photos, videos and step-by-step plans. Can't get it done? Then chat assistant Handy Harry is ready or a repairman is found.

Monkeys By The Sea - Thijs Wullems (head of the tribe) - Bergen op Zoom

A sustainable future starts in the ocean. Monkeys By The Sea develops plant-based fish substitutes such as tuna salad, fish sticks and shrimp. They use sustainable ingredients such as seawater from the Oosterschelde, oyster mushrooms and micro-algae, without soy or palm oil.

The Lekker Company - Dewi van de Waeter (owner) - Utrecht

The Lekker Company develops simple, sustainable and conscious skincare without complicated labels or unnecessary additives. Their skincare is 100% vegan and animal-tested, with ingredients such as organic coconut oil and rapeseed wax.

The Fair Future Challenge aims to boost Dutch startups and help them enter the consumer market.
