Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) is the first higher education institution in the EU to make available the AI platform Claude for Education. Claude for Education offers educational institutions secure and reliable AI access for their entire community. Generative AI is already part of the daily work of students and teachers. They often use AI tools on a personal basis. By offering Claude centrally, BUas ensures equal access and control over responsible use.
More time for what really matters
BUas is implementing Claude for Education for several reasons:
- Students get an AI learning partner that is available 24/7. The learning mode encourages active learning by asking questions, prompting thought processes, and helping students discover connections. In this way, Claude supports students in their research, studies, and the development of critical thinking skills in a way that fits contemporary, in-depth education.
- Teachers receive support in curriculum development and the automation of routine tasks, freeing up time to develop skills for guiding AI use in the classroom. This also provides space to guide students' critical thinking as they work with AI tools and to design education that is current, creative, and challenging.
- Researchers use AI as a tool to recognize patterns, understand literature, and strengthen their methodology. This helps them generate new insights with greater clarity and substantiation.
- Staff members use AI to analyze documents, formulate policy, and optimize communication. This makes decision-making more informed and strategic, with more room for substantive focus.
