Allied4Future (A4F) has officially launched its Technology Collaboration Labs (TCLs) during an event held at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). This initiative aims to accelerate and finance responsible deep tech innovation across Europe.

The TCLs aim to foster a new approach to accelerating and funding deeptech innovations in Europe. The labs were first introduced at the World Future Forum in Lisbon, where they received substantial political support. President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the TCLs and Sustainable Finance Goals (SFGs) as crucial for Europe's leadership in transformative technologies.

What is Allied4Future?

A4F is committed to fostering the ethical, inclusive, and responsible development of emerging technologies for the common good. Through its TCLs, the A4F Foundation mobilizes cross-sector collaboration, connecting researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and philanthropists to co-create innovative solutions that are regenerative and socially aligned. The vision is a Europe that leads the world in responsible deep tech innovation, where science, policy, and finance converge to advance knowledge, protect democratic values, and strengthen strategic resilience.

Focus on healthcare and quantum tech

As part of the launch, Allied4Future, in partnership with TU Delft, held the inaugural meetings of two specialized labs: the AI in Healthcare Lab and Quantum Internet Policy Lab.

  • AI in Healthcare Lab.  This lab focuses on addressing the challenges of AI adoption in healthcare, such as regulatory hurdles, trust issues, and stakeholder mismatches. The goal is to bridge the gap between the promise of AI and its practical implementation in healthcare systems.
  • Quantum Internet Policy Lab: This lab aims to support Europe's leadership in secure quantum communication by bridging research, industry, and policy. It will advise on frameworks to guide the transition of quantum technology from research and development to deployment, ensuring openness, equity, and strategic autonomy.

Framework and enabling functions

The TCLs operate under a strategic framework that includes several action areas:

  • Lead: Advancing foundational technologies such as AI and Quantum.
  • Accelerate: Enabling deep tech breakthroughs and scientific discovery.
  • Apply: Deploying solutions in strategic sectors like health, energy, and resilience.
  • Scale: Achieving systemic impact through replication, integration, and uptake.
  • Collaborate Globally: Driving international cooperation and science diplomacy.

In addition to these action areas, the A4F Foundation provides enabling functions, such as the Sustainable Finance Goals (SFGs), to mobilize mission-driven capital, strategic governance, and policy frameworks, ensuring the responsible deployment and prevention of misuse. A4F will also serve as a coordinator of the initiative, planning to launch new TCLs in the future.
