We explore the risks of cybersecurity: what lies ahead for citizens and businesses, and how can they protect themselves?

Cybersecurity is all about protecting systems and data from hackers and other threats. As our lives become increasingly digital, good security is essential. Unfortunately, research shows that many companies and citizens are insufficiently prepared: we use weak passwords and many organizations do not have a good protocol to follow when they are attacked. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking: hackers from countries such as Russia and China are increasingly trying to penetrate our systems—even those of the police and defense forces. Fortunately, cybersecurity also offers opportunities, and the Netherlands is seen as a pioneer in this field.
