We dive into the world of camping. What does the future hold for campers, caravans, and tents? What tech gadgets are coming our way?
Many people head out in the summer with a tent, caravan, or camper. Whether you choose a nature campsite in the Netherlands, a family campsite in France, or a remote spot in the wilderness, camping remains incredibly popular. On January 1, 2025, a record number of 623,158 caravans and camper vans were registered.
But camping today is no longer just about going back to basics. There is a clear trend towards technology finding its place on the campsite. Consider, for instance, smart tent fabrics that harness solar energy to charge your phone or power bank. Or the rise of compact micro campers – often electric – that allow you to travel surprisingly far without compromising on comfort. Cooking is also changing, with lightweight induction hobs and even portable water purification systems for adventurers.
The technological revolution in the camping world is far from over. It seems to have only just begun.

Personally, I love getting away for a bit in the summer. ‘Touching grass’ in the most literal sense: pitch a tent, enjoy the fresh air, live the simple life. I'm sure you know someone who has a camper or caravan. Or maybe you're a fan yourself. If so, it's nice (and useful) to know what's available these days. We keep an eye out for interesting innovations in the world of camping.
