The Dutch Hydrogen Delta announced today that it has presented a plan to the House of Representatives to kickstart the electrolyser manufacturing industry. With the plan, the consortium aims to accelerate the hydrogen economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plan – The Dutch Hydrogen Delta – was designed by 12 consortium partners. A grant application of about 80 million euros has been submitted to the National Growth Fund for implementation, the consortium writes in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n
The goal is to increase the autonomy of the Netherlands in the field of hydrogen. The consortium wants to achieve this by building its own production site, which can be used to develop installations for producing green hydrogen. The installations work on the basis of a unique Dutch hydrogen battery: the Battolyser<\/a>. This battery was developed in cooperation with TU Delft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once the battery is fully charged, the technology can produce hydrogen based on solar and wind energy. In addition, the system can capture and store excess energy. This can then be used to produce hydrogen. If there is a shortage of solar and wind energy, the plants can supply energy back to the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Dutch Hydrogen Delta aims to realize an annual production capacity of 1 GW of Battolysers in the Merwe-Vierhavens area (M4H) by 2026. This will enable it to supply half of all the plants needed by the Netherlands to achieve its interim climate goals in 2030. The plan should result in the Netherlands having resources to achieve accelerated climate ambitions and prevent the Netherlands (and Europe) from once again becoming dependent on technology from countries such as China and Russia. According to the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the manufacturing industry is the missing link in the Dutch hydrogen economy.
