Dutch photonics start-ups supported by PhotonDelta<\/a>, a cross-border ecosystem of photonic chip technology organizations, delivered a calling card in the United States with the presentation of new techniques at the Dutch pavilion during Photonics West in San Francisco<\/a>, the organization said in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Astrape<\/a> Network\u2019s photonics solution allows for much faster data transmission compared to traditional electrical networking. Crucially, it is also highly energy efficient – Astrape is able to increase speed at the usual exponential growth rate required by the market,
whilst energy consumption only grows linearly. This has the capacity to significantly reduce costs and the environmental impact of data centres across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n

Addoptics,<\/a> an industrial-quality optics company, announced the official launch for their NanoOptics \u2013 high-tech, customizable lens shapes that can be prototyped and manufactured rapidly for any business using complex microlenses. These ultra-lightweight lenses are precise down to the nanometer level and provide meticulous optical clarity, produced with ultra-clear materials that hold up against temperature changes, UV impacts, and scratching. The usage of polymer instead of glass means lighter lenses with higher durability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 3D printing and traditional technologies of Addoptics means a perfect replication of all digital and physical designs. The process is also a scalable process, whether it\u2019s small or big batches, which enables a seamless transition from prototyping a lens
design to full-scale production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

World wide presence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The announcements are a major step forward in PhotonDelta\u2019s goal of building an European integrated photonics ecosystem with a worldwide presence. Last year, PhotonDelta secured more than \u20ac1 billion in funding to embark on a six year programme to invest in photonic
startups and scaleups, expand production and research facilities, attract and train talent, drive adoption, and develop a world-class design library. By 2030, PhotonDelta aims to have created an ecosystem with hundreds of companies, serving customers worldwide and a wafer production capacity of more then 100,000 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PhotonDelta backed photonic quantum processor producer QuiX Quantum<\/a> has also been nominated for the Prism Award at Photonics West. The award recognizes the best photonics innovations of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
