Car-manufacturer Lightyear, based in Helmond, will produce 10,000 additional models of the Lightyear 2. These cars have been pre-ordered by business leasing company Arval<\/a>. This is what Lightyear reports in a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total of pre-orders of the Lightyear 2 on the business market is now more than 21,000 cars. This corresponds to sales of nearly \u20ac840 million. A week ago Lightyear opened the waiting list for consumers. Those could, by signing up, get priority in the pre-ordering process of Lightyear 2 models later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sustainable mobility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alain van Groendael, CEO of Arval, says Arval has a lot of ambition in the field of sustainable mobility. “Lightyear’s technology is affordable and environmentally friendly. That’s why these cars are a great addition to our fleet,” van Groenendael says. Arval’s ambition is to further scale up and lease out 700,000 electric vehicles by 2025. So the 10,000 Lightyear 2 cars, which are helping Arval to achieve that goal are very welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lex Hoefsloot, Lightyear CEO and Co-Founder is grateful for Arval’s trust and praises their expertise and international presence. “Besides offering our solar-powered electric cars to individual consumers, Arval as a leasing company plays a crucial role in making our technologies available to as many people as possible,” Hoefsloot said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mass market model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Lightyear 2 is Lightyear’s accessible model for the mass market. With it, Lightyear 2 promises to meet the needs of consumers. By adding solar panels to the sunroof<\/a> and hood, the car can double its range to more than 800 km per charge. It also requires three times less charging than a conventional electric vehicle.
