The first fast-charging plaza for heavy construction equipment and trucks is being built in Geldermalsen. Dura Vermeer, Ploegam, Van Oord and Betuwewind are developing this facility under the name ‘WattHub’. Preparations will start in February and it should be operational by April. “The area lends itself to it, as the charging square is located under wind turbines and between solar panels. Betuwewind supplies the square with sustainable electricity,” Dura Vermeer said in a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WattHub was developed for trucks and heavy equipment. With 39 charging poles and a scheduling system, there is always enough charging opportunity and certainty to charge at the reserved time slot. In addition, the charging plaza will have a charging capacity of up to 600 kW per charging point. Not only the project, but the entire region can benefit from this initiative. The charging plaza has more capacity that can be used for companies with similar charging needs from and for this region.<\/p>\n\n\n

Germany has been conducting trials for a few years now on trucks with what is known as a pantograph mounted on the roof.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

Many entrepreneurs in the region do not get a heavier connection from the grid operator, which makes electrifying their means of transport and pieces of equipment difficult. The charging plaza thus provides a solution for entrepreneurs who can thus invest in sustainable equipment and fulfil their sustainable ambitions. “We are immensely proud that we can realise this together as partners. This gives local entrepreneurs an earlier opportunity to invest in more sustainable equipment.
