Together, the organization will develop key technology and infrastructure in a project meant to make AAR more of a reality.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New approach to passenger air travel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>AAR is a new transport system aimed at using new types of aircraft to bring people and cargo to places that might not have been previously served. AAM offers a new form of travel, enabling cost-effective connectivity into congested urban areas and underserved regions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"vlp-link-container vlp-layout-basic wp-block-visual-link-preview-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ioplus.nl\/archive\/en\/selected\/ai-makes-aircraft-maintenance-more-efficient\/\" class=\"vlp-link\" title=\"AI makes aircraft maintenance more efficient\"><\/a><div class=\"vlp-layout-zone-side\"><div class=\"vlp-block-2 vlp-link-image\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vlp-layout-zone-main\"><div class=\"vlp-block-0 vlp-link-title\">AI makes aircraft maintenance more efficient<\/div><div class=\"vlp-block-1 vlp-link-summary\">Maintaining aircraft fleets smarter and more efficiently using AI? With a major study of several European universities and industries (ReMAP) with TU Delft as project leader, a step has been taken in the modernization of aircraft maintenance using Artificial Intelligence.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vertical-aerospace.com\/\">Vertical Aerospace<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virginatlantic.com\/\">Virgin Atlantic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atkinsglobal.com\/homepage\">Atkins<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/skyports.net\/\">Skyports<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nats.aero\/\">NATS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cp.catapult.org.uk\/\">Connected Places Catapult<\/a> and academic institutions Cranfield University and WMG, University of Warwick, are all members of the new Advanced Mobility Ecosystem Consortium.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consortium has been awarded a \u00a39.5 million grant by the UK Government\u2019s Future Flight Challenge to develop the essential building blocks of a viable AAM ecosystem that has the potential to be progressed into full commercial operations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is hoped that the consortium will support AAM in the UK by creating and testing technological developments in aircraft electrification, airspace management, ground infrastructure, operational procedures and the systems and supporting business cases required to implement a new air passenger system in the UK.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"vlp-link-container vlp-layout-basic wp-block-visual-link-preview-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/innovationorigins.com\/en\/dossier\/the-future-of-sustainable-aviation\/\" class=\"vlp-link\" title=\"The future of sustainable aviation - Innovation Origins\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><div class=\"vlp-layout-zone-side\"><div class=\"vlp-block-2 vlp-link-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.innovationorigins.com\/2022\/04\/bPOhD1NE-4790-DLR_EXACT_Grafik_g-scaled.jpg\" style=\"max-width: 150px; max-height: 150px\" \/><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vlp-layout-zone-main\"><div class=\"vlp-block-0 vlp-link-title\">The future of sustainable aviation &#8211; Innovation Origins<\/div><div class=\"vlp-block-1 vlp-link-summary\">Just like everything else, the aviation sector needs to do something about its emissions. Read our dossier.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Test aircraft and test flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Testing AAM\u2019s viability will depend on Vertical Aerospace\u2019s emission-free VX4 eVTOL aircraft, operated by Virgin Atlantic. Two physical flights will take place, and a third simulation flight will demonstrate urban connectivity between London City and Bristol airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These demonstrations will explore key aspects of the passenger journey, vehicle operation, airspace navigation, ground charging, security provision and local stakeholder engagement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Cutts, Future Flight Challenge Director at UK Research and Innovation said: \u201cOur roadmap sets out how air taxis could be in use in the UK by 2030, but a lot needs to occur for that to happen. By bringing technical developments from across the aviation industry together into one network, and undertaking early demonstration in the real world, the Advanced Mobility Ecosystem Consortium could accelerate the timescale for AAM introduction by years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrew Macmillan, Director of Strategy of Vertical Aerospace, said: \u201cWe are building the best industrial and commercial partner ecosystems and are progressing in Britain with our UK launch customer, Virgin Atlantic.
