Local journalism is hampered by the sharp decline in print sales, the monetization of online content and the constant competition for the fastest publication. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can assist in maintaining the professional flow while also achieving greater productivity and success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An international project is launched by Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). A team of experts and researchers are developing apps that can bring change in the everyday of journalists. German, Dutch and Norwegian researchers are working together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coordination is led by Professor Neil Thurman and Dr Bartosz Wilczek from LMU. The Volkswagen Foundation is funding the project with EUR 1,412,000 over the next three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the major areas that will be addressed in the development of the apps is the optimization of research to find stories with much higher potential to be newsworthy. In addition, they will also target social media search and information filtering.
