LifeSense Group, based on High Tech Campus Eindhoven, has won a Wearable Tech Award at the Innovation World Cup. Their product Carin<\/a><\/em>\u00a0– underwear for women with incontinence problems – was judged as the best in their category: healthcare and wellness.<\/p>\n

LifeSense Group CEO Valer Pop was already \u201csuper happy\u201d when he heard about\u00a0the nomination in December. He immediately promised \u201cto pick up the award and prove that High Tech Campus is where life-changing wearables are born.\u201d He kept his word.<\/p>\n

Carin<\/i> is developed with the purpose of\u00a0helping everyday women manage bladder control issues all too common after having children. The line of hi-tech, absorbent, underwear allows women to monitor urine loss throughout the day. Fitted with a sensor and accompanied by an app and exercise plan, Carin is meant to\u00a0<\/i>empower women to take control of their bodies and health.<\/p>\n

Eline van Uden, Product Marketing manager and responsible for Carin<\/em>, adds:\u00a0\u201cIf we look at innovations with a huge impact on women\u2019s lives we find the disposable pad in 1880\u2019s, the bra in the 1920\u2019s and the pill in 1960\u2019s. Half a century later, Carin is an innovation in women\u2019s health, but will eventually be what Madonna is for music: taboo-breaking and empowering lives of women all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andrea Onetti, Group Vice President at STMicroelectronics, one of the partners of the competition, said: \u201cWhile continuing to push the boundaries on fun and cool stuff, the incredible Innovation on display in this year\u2019s WT Innovation World Cup demonstrates how Wearable Technology makers and entrepreneurs are also moving up the ladder to life-sustaining wearables suited to medically-approved treatment and wellness.\u201d<\/p>\n
