According to the influential design magazine, only one event ranks higher than the yearly Eindhoven DDW-festival. Overall, Dutch Design Week receives a 43rd place in the ranking (out of 400 entries). Design Academy Eindhoven also was rewarded: #3 in the Schools List, 59th in the overall list.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dezeen: &#8220;Held every October in the modest city of Eindhoven, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/dutch-design-week\/\">Dutch Design Week<\/a>\u00a0is smaller than rivals such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/events\/2016\/milan-design-week-2016\/\">Milan design week<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/london-design-festival-2016\/\">London Design Festival<\/a>, yet its influence is huge. It covers the period 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016, and represents the newsworthiness of key forces and emerging\u00a0players.<\/p>\n<p>Dezeen about DDW: &#8220;From the academy&#8217;s crop of 2015 graduate projects, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/bastiaan-buijs\/\">Bastiaan Buijs<\/a>&#8216; sex toys were (perhaps unsurprisingly) by far the most searched for. The young designer created a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2015\/11\/03\/bastiaan-buijs-satyr-sex-toy-men-dutch-design-week-2015\/\">fleshlight-cum-furniture piece<\/a> for men and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2015\/10\/22\/bastiaan-buijs-grandfather-clock-wind-up-sex-toy-dildo-vibrator-hand-blown-glass-dutch-design-week-2015\/\">clockwork vibrator for women<\/a> for his final project.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>New approaches to fashion design shown in Eindhoven were also popular with Dezeen readers this year. &#8220;They included <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2015\/10\/18\/martijn-van-strien-the-post-couture-collective-customisable-fashion-dutch-design-week-2015\/\">Martijn van Strien&#8217;s fashion designs<\/a> that anyone can download and assemble themselves, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2015\/10\/20\/vera-de-pont-pop-up-cut-out-fashion-collection-design-academy-eindhoven-dutch-design-week-2015\/\">Vera de Pont clothing<\/a> that also doesn&#8217;t require stitches to put together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dezeen highlights a couple of the best known designers from Eindhoven: &#8220;Established designers based in the city \u2013 like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/joost-van-bleiswijk\/\">Joost van Bleiswijk<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/kiki-van-eijk\/\">Kiki van Eijk<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/piet-hein-eek\/\">Piet Hein Eek<\/a> \u2013 annually present their latest work in Eindhoven&#8217;s former industrial buildings, where many of them have set up their studios.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design Acedemy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/design-academy-eindhoven\/\">Design Academy Eindhoven<\/a> comes in at number three\u00a0in the\u00a0Schools list, largely due\u00a0to the\u00a0popularity of projects\u00a0presented at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/milan-design-week\/\">Milan Design Week<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/dutch-design-week\/\">Dutch Design Week<\/a>. Dezeen: &#8220;Students at\u00a0the Dutch school often produce highly provocative projects.
