<\/a><\/p>\n\nSummer\u2019s raining down on us<\/u><\/u><\/span>And all it does to me is this:
\n\u2018How nice, this saves me<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n
Loads on watering the garden.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n This\u2019ll bring out tons of snails.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n How do we calm down our cats?\u2019<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n Cushions on the car windows<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n To keep them from shattering<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n In the next hail storm.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n This is all it does to me<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I see no storms at sea<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n I see no refugees<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n Not even gardeners, farmers<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n With their roots rotting away<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n At their feet<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n How small my little world<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n How grateful am I for<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n The occasional ray of sun to colour my arms<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n How little thought I give<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n To the ever available fruit in my shake<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s going to continue to rain.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n I think it\u2019s about time I awake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Every month, Eindhoven’s city poet\u00a0Nienke Esther Grooten, publishes a poem in English.
