Dutch startup SeaO\u2082<\/a>, specializing in innovative technology for carbon removal (CO\u2082) from seawater, has raised \u20ac2+ million. Using its pioneering Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) technology, which efficiently removes CO\u2082 from seawater, the company aims to combat climate change by returning carbon-free water to the ocean, allowing it to absorb more CO\u2082 from the atmosphere. This funding accelerates the development of SeaO\u2082’s innovative technology and contributes to the goal of removing 1 megaton of CO\u2082 by 2030 and 1 gigaton of CO\u2082 by 2045.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comprehensive system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Participating in the recent investment round are prominent investors such as DOEN Participations<\/a>, NEW-TTT fund<\/a>, Future Tech Ventures<\/a>, CarbonFix<\/a>, informal investors Eduard Talman<\/a> and Siddharth Kambe<\/a>, and others. This \u20ac2+ million investment will enable the transition from prototype to pilot plant and a comprehensive system for monitoring, reporting, and verification. Team capacity will also be strengthened. The test plant is expected to have an annual capacity of 250 tons of CO\u2082 and is scheduled for launch in summer 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milestones<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Recently, the company achieved several milestones. For example, it successfully removed CO2 from the Wadden Sea and captured it in concrete with partner Paebbl was recognized in the top 100 XPRIZE competition, and delivered award-winning pitches at events such as The Next Web, Tech Tour Oceans, and Tech Tour Water<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n
