Grid operator TenneT is pushing ahead with grid expansion and maintenance with investments of \u20ac4.6 billion<\/a> in the first six months of 2024. This is an increase of more than 30 percent compared to the same period last year. The increase is mainly related to higher investments in TenneT’s 2 GW offshore program and several onshore projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dutch power grid is becoming overloaded in more and more places. This is due to the increase in wind turbines, solar parks, charging stations, heat pumps and the industry’s sustainability plans. Throughout the country, thousands of companies are now waiting for a power connection.<\/p>\n\n\n

This financial support is intended to enable the state-owned company to make crucial mega-investments in the electricity network in the coming years. <\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

Manon van Beek, CEO of TenneT, says that to achieve the 2030, 2045 and 2050 climate goals they are supporting the electrification of industry, businesses, homes, hospitals and public transport by providing new infrastructure. TenneT will increase investments in expansion and maintenance of the onshore and offshore grid in 2024. The half-year figures show that they are on the right track. Van Beek also emphasizes that the energy transition requires a high degree of acceptance and building space.
