The program aims to be a talent pipeline for the optics and photonics industry, which makes a significant contribution to the Dutch economy &#8211; also because of its strong annual growth rate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By integrating academic expertise with industry needs, the program promises to produce highly skilled professionals ready to drive innovation and growth. \u201cThe launch of MPOP is a significant step forward for the optics and photonics community in the Netherlands\u201d, said Vinod Subramaniam, President of the University of Twente and Supervisory Board Member of PhotonDelta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three universities offer the new courses within existing master\u2019s programs in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering. The 4TU Federation coordinates the initiative. The MasterPlus Programme in Optics and Photonics (MPOP) is supported by PhotonDelta and Optics Netherlands and will start in September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specialty Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each university will deliver its own specialty courses in optics and photonics, facilitate inter-university activities and training, and give students the flexibility to attend courses across different university campuses. An array of scientific and social activities will be integrated, as well as first-hand industry experience. Eligible master\u2019s students in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering can expect challenge-based projects and internships with industry-leading companies and innovative startups, including ASML, Signify, SMART Photonics, and LioniX International. They will also work alongside renowned research institutes like SRON and Imec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The need for talent is growing&#8221;, the initiators say in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpop-programme.com\/\">statement<\/a> to the press. &#8220;The Netherlands is a hub of innovation for optics and photonics, with a vibrant collaborative ecosystem. Professionals in optics and photonics help shape the future of technology and drive global innovations via cutting-edge projects in areas such as data communications, sensing technology, medical imaging, renewable energy, and manufacturing.
