In preparation for a new project (more about that later), Innovation Origins is putting together an overview of how much money European countries have applied for from the European Commission’s Corona Recovery Fund. In a nutshell, the fund is intended to finance projects that will enable Europe to emerge from the corona crisis in a more socially responsible and sustainable manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The requested sums vary widely: from \u20ac191.5 billion by Italy<\/strong> <\/a>to zero euros by the Netherlands. The Netherlands can claim a maximum of \u20ac6 billion and can also apply for extra funding for separate projects. Presumably due to the interminable formation process of the new government, our country is the only one that has not yet filed an application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now 6 billion euros is nothing to scoff at, but it is a pittance compared to the \u20ac 60 billion that the new coalition government is setting aside to mitigate the impact of climate change and to promote wind and solar power, electric vehicles, home insulation along with other sustainability projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As far as I’m concerned, the government, which will be standing on the platform alongside King Willem-Alexander on Monday after almost a year of being a caretaker government, cannot get out of the starting blocks fast enough.
