Electric mobility is an important factor when it comes to making transportation more sustainable. Fossil fuels in Africa<\/a> remain a dominant source of energy and infrastructure for electric vehicles is lacking. That is why Swedish company Opibus<\/a> set out to Kenya with technology that allows the conversion of regular cars into electric ones. The ultimate goal: Bringing electric mobility <\/a>to the entire African continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opibus was founded in 2017 by Filip L\u00f6vstr\u00f6m, Filip Gardler, Mikael G\u00e5nge, and Rawlings Nechavava. It was the direct result of a research project conducted at Link\u00f6ping University<\/a> in Sweden. L\u00f6vstr\u00f6m had spent part of his childhood in Kenya, which allowed him to establish a personal connection to the country. Yet moving the headquarters there made economic sense too. Kenya is one of the fastest growing economies in Sub-Saharan Africa<\/a>. Combined with their enthusiasm for sustainability and the environment, this inspired the founders to focus on electric mobility there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
