Barcelona is one of the world’s leading examples of Smart City developments. And that is even more so during the annual Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC)<\/a>, from 12 to 15 November in that city. “It is the meeting place for companies, entrepreneurs, start-ups, cities and knowledge and research centres involved in smart cities”, says Johann Beelen, who is helping to enthuse a Dutch delegation for the conference on behalf of Brainport Development. This year this delegation will be led by the Eindhoven mayor John Jorritsma.<\/p>\n

“Our goal is to present the offer and the added value of Dutch organisations and companies within the Smart City sector as concretely as possible”, says Johann Beelen. This is done along six different tracks:<\/p>\n

\nHealthy Urban Living
\nUrban Mobility
\nClimate and Energy
\nCircular Economy
\nData<\/p>\n

“Given the international audience visiting this exhibition, participation offers many opportunities to get in touch with the right people,” says Beelen. The programme starts on Sunday evening 11 November with an informal kick-off reception. On Monday 12 November, the business event ‘The Dutch & Smart Cities: Shaping the future by challenging today’ will take place. “During this business event, we will organise workshops, deep-dives and roundtable discussions that focus on social challenges and technological concepts in cities.” From Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th November, the Holland Pavilion of Smart City Expo will host World Congress pitches and networking moments.<\/p>\n
