Rijkswaterstaat South Netherlands is investigating the possibility of setting up a new service station for cars and trucks on the A58 motorway near Best, with electric charging stations and a possibility for trucks to fill up with hydrogen.<\/p>\n

The intention is to\u00a0build this service station in a circular manner, supplying the service station with its own energy supply.\u00a0Another option is to create a test strip where companies can test and demonstrate their innovations in practice. All this is part of the efforts to turn the A58 into the “Brabant Energy Corridor”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region<\/a>, one of the partners in the A58 project, it is now being examined, in anticipation of the final design, whether the EU\u00a0would want to contribute to the installation of a heat network at the service station. “The new layout offers the possibility of a connection to supply the service station with heat\/cold via a heat network and buildings in the immediate vicinity, up to 1.5 km away from the service station”. The Eindhoven Metropolitan Region collaborates with the University of Darmstadt in this respect. Nearly half of the energy demand is currently a heat demand due to the government’s decision to strive for a gas-free society. “The innovation strip provides an opportunity to demonstrate that a heat network can lead to a sound business case,” said Metropolitan Region.<\/p>\n
