As far as collaboration between universities and the industry is concerned, TU Eindhoven remains number\u00a01 in the world.\u00a0The Eindhoven University of Technology continues to be among the world\u2019s elite in research collaboration with industry. The\u00a0CWTS Leiden Ranking<\/a>\u00a0puts TU\/e at the top of the list of ‘broad’ technical universities with regard to collaboration with the industry. This is evident from the percentage of academic publications in collaboration with industry from universities with at least 5,000 annual publications (“PP industry”).<\/p>\n

The number of universities surveyed in the CWTS rankings is now approaching one thousand (938). Each year, the Leiden Institute compiles a list of universities based on academic publications, including citations, co-authorships, quantitative output (the number of publications of a university) and the degree of collaboration with external organizations, companies and institutes. It concerns publications from the period 2013-2016. In addition, the researchers reviewed the co-authorship and institutional collaboration between the university and other parties.<\/p>\n

Compared with other university rankings, the Leiden Ranking uses other, objective indicators for academic impact and collaboration.
\nThe Leiden Ranking only provides information about the research of universities included in the\u00a0“Web of Science”<\/a>\u00a0core collection. It takes into account the relationship between the size of the number of published studies and the number of citations.<\/p>\n

TU Eindhoven has traditionally had good links with industry. This is evidenced by, among other things, a long tradition of part-time professors with a background in the industry. The TU\/e website contains more information about the so-called\u00a0flagship collaboration<\/a>\u00a0that the university maintains.<\/p>\n

The ranking is traditionally dominated by Harvard University (USA) in terms of numbers of publications, while MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is world-class in terms of impact. What is striking about the list for public-private partnerships of 2018 is that three specialized Chinese universities score high (China University Petrol Beijing, Southwest Petrol University in Chengdu and China University of Petroleum East China, Huadong). These are institutes that specialize in petrochemical research in collaboration with the large Chinese state oil companies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
