Philips verlengt de huurovereenkomst van zijn drie hoofdgebouwen op de High Tech Campus tot 2032. Daarmee blijft het gezondheidstechnologiebedrijf de belangrijkste huurder van de campus waarvan Philips zelf de oprichter is en waar ook E52 gevestigd is.\u00a0Philips huurt in totaal 85.000 m\u00b2, verdeelt over elf gebouwen. Hiermee voorziet het bedrijf in de huisvesting van ruim 4.100 werknemers.\u00a0Op de High Tech Campus – “de slimste vierkante kilometer van Europa” – zijn ruim 160 bedrijven en onderzoeksinstellingen gevestigd. Er werken zo’n 11.000 onderzoekers, productontwikkelaars en (startende) ondernemers.<\/p>\n
Hans de Jong, President Philips Nederland, benadrukt het belang van de High Tech Campus voor Philips: \u201cDe High Tech Campus is uitgegroeid tot een buitengewoon belangrijke broedplaats voor hoogwaardige technologie\u00ebn. Voor ons is het de ideale plek om, in samenwerking met anderen, de ontwikkeling van nieuwe digitale technologie\u00ebn en producten te versnellen.” Philips investeert volgens De Jong\u00a0zo’n 630 miljoen euro in Research & Development in Nederland. In 2017 leverde dat in totaal 1733 nieuwe patentaanvragen op.<\/p>\n
Voor Frans Schmetz, directeur van de High Tech Campus, is de verlenging een belangrijk signaal: \u201cHet commitment van Philips voor zo\u2019n lange termijn zegt alles over de rol en duurzaamheid van ons hightech ecosysteem. Dat geeft ook vertrouwen voor de andere campusbewoners, de garantie van de aanwezigheid van Philips geeft ook houvast voor hun toekomst.\u201d<\/p>\n
In de drie hoofdgebouwen (HTC33, 34, en 36, alle gebouwen op de Campus hebben een nummer) komen verschillende disciplines van Philips bij elkaar, zoals research, design, en innovation services. Ook Philips Lighting (binnenkort: Signify) is stevig aanwezig op de Campus.<\/p>\n
In 2012 is de High Tech Campus door Philips verkocht om het voor andere bedrijven makkelijker te maken zich ook op het terrein te vestigen om daarmee een ecosysteem van open innovatie te cre\u00ebren.<\/p>\n
De grootste innovatiehub van Philips bevindt zich in de regio Eindhoven; naast de High tech Campus is ook een grote hub op de Health Campus in Best.
