They also won in the Habitat category. The jury was unequivocal: \u201cDeFlat Kleiburg sends out a clear and positive message: community building is the future. This approach offers opportunities for the enormous number of similar tasks at home and abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeFlat addresses an urgent topic: throughout the world, a multitude of buildings built in the 1960s and 1970s deserve renovation rather than the wrecking ball. The jury particularly praises the fact that a tangible solution is offered for the genuine, international problem of scalable re-appropriation. After several attempts at revitalising developments in the Bijlmer Amsterdam, DeFlat Kleiburg is the first to succeed, genuinely improving the quality of life of the block\u2019s residents and the community. An encouraging example.<\/p>\n<p><em>(main picture by (c) Frits van Hout)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.ioplus.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/unnamed-14.jpg\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The international jury, comprising Bart Ahsmann (BEDA), Saskia van Stein (bureau Europa), Carolien Ligtenberg (Bureau Zwirt), Rosa Bertoli (Wallpaper), Deyan Sudjic (Design Museum London), Beatrice Leanza (Beijing Design Week), Joost Alferink (Product Designer, Design Consultancy), Roosje Klap (Graphic Designer) and Marco Coello (Design Week Mexico), selected the winners, who were announced on Saturday 28 October during Dutch Design Week.<\/p>\n<p>The other Dutch Design Awards this year went to <strong>Vlisco Un \u00e0 Un<\/strong>\u00a0by Michiel Schuurman (Communication),\u00a0<strong>ZandGlas<\/strong>\u00a0by Atelier NL (Design Research),\u00a0<strong>Bravado: a pretentious, swaggering display of courage (F\/W 2017)\u00a0<\/strong>by Das Leben am Haverkamp (Fashion),\u00a0<strong>Quooker Flex<\/strong>\u00a0by Quooker (Product),\u00a0<strong>White Spots<\/strong>\u00a0by Studio Richard Vijgen (Service &amp; Systems),\u00a0<strong>Frank Kolkman\u00a0<\/strong>(Young Designer Award) and\u00a0<strong>Royal FloraHolland<\/strong>\u00a0(Best Client Award).\u00a0<strong>Sheltersuit 4.0\u00a0<\/strong>by designer Bas Timmer received the most public votes online and in the exhibition, making it the winner of the Public Award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DeFlat Kleiburg by NL Architects big winner Dutch Design Awards 2017 DeFlat Kleiburg by NL Architects was rewarded with the Future Award, making it this year\u2019s big winner.
