\nMalaysia is looking for examples that can help in the transformation into a High Tech Country
\nMalaysia wants to develop from a Mid- to High Tech country in the coming years. On 20 September, the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, will visit High Tech Campus Eindhoven for this reason. He wants to learn how Brainport Eindhoven has developed into a high-tech hub. In addition, the minister visits Philips Lighting and holds a meeting with the KMWE Group, one of the Dutch investors in Malaysia. The country is looking worldwide for examples that can be of significance in the transformation that Malaysia envisages.<\/p>\n

Malaysia wants this transformation to offer its own highly educated workforce an attractive future. In order to achieve this, the country intends to invest heavily in the transition in the coming years and is preparing an agenda for the period up to 2050. The company visit to Philips Lighting and the introduction to KMWE, a company in the region focused on high-end components, are in line with the ambition.<\/p>\n

Part of the programme on Friday, October 20th is also a master class about the transition that the Brainport Eindhoven region has undergone. After the region suffered from the bankruptcy of DAF in the late nineties and the reorganisation of Philips, government, industry and knowledge institutions by focusing on collaboration and high tech laid the foundations for what has become an innovation hub in the Netherlands and Europe.
