The second edition of Young Brainport Summerschool is ready to roll. The internationalisation\u00a0of Brainport Eindhovenis is given an extra impulse from August 19 to 26.<\/p>\n
Forty gifted youngsters from 22 countries from all over the world are introduced to the innovative activities and culture of the city of Eindhoven and its surrounding area. The final goal is to offer these top talents a \u2018life-changing experience\u2019 in order to keep them connected to Brainport Eindhoven and become motivated ambassadors for our region.<\/p>\n
During the summer school,\u00a0the passion about science and technology that participating talents (15 to 18 years old) already have is further encouraged by introducing them to the innovations, education- and research institutes, labs and companies that are characteristic for the region. Renowned professors and representatives from industry and knowledge institutes introduce the youngsters to new technologies. They will get special demos, visit striking companies and fulfill challenging assignments. Besides this, the program contains remarkable social activities to get to know the region and the city of Eindhoven. \u201cA successful combination,\u201d according to Robert Adragna from Canada, one of last year\u2019s participants: \u201cParticipants should be prepared to have their mind absolutely blown. It was an incredible experience. Not only because we got to know Brainport Eindhoven, but also because of the great merging of so many different and very cool people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n“Through the summer school, the region can succeed\u00a0in attracting the talent that is needed for the future\u201d, says Yvonne van Hest, program director at Brainport Development. \u201cBecause of the shortage on the technological labour market many companies in Brainport Eindhoven already face a shortage of skilled personnel. That is why we have an important task to realise an extensive talent pool that consists of national and international students. The summer school is one of the ways we use to fill this talent pool.\u201d In August 2016 the first edition took place in collaboration with the Canadian Waterloo region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
