Riga based startup Aerones<\/a> has secured \u20ac27.7 million in funding to drive its expansion strategy into the growing green energy sector through their innovative robot enabled solution offering faster and cost effective maintenance and inspections on wind turbines globally, says online magazine EU-Startups in a press release<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

50 percent of world’s current total installed capacity already use Aerone’s service offerings. Wind energy is a renewable energy source that is becoming increasingly popular, but the maintenance of wind turbines is complex and costly. Aerones has developed a robot-enabled wind turbine maintenance and inspection solution to reduce costs and inefficiencies in the global wind industry. The company was founded in 2019 and started out life with basic inspection services. It has since expanded its offering to provide a full suite of inspection (external visual, internal blade, lighting protection, ultrasound), maintenance (painting, ice-phobic coating, blade and tower cleaning) and repair (leading edge) services for wind turbines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aerones claims to be 6 times faster, safer and 40 percent more efficient than current processes. Its suite of tools promotes intelligent predictive maintenance of wind turbine blades and towers, helping to maximize the efficiency of wind assets and lower operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading investors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The funding round was led by Lightrock alongside Haniel with other round participants including existing investors. With this new funding in the bank, Aerones plans to grow its staff headcount, increase the number of field-deployed robot service teams, expand its presence in fast-growing markets including Africa and Australia, and bring new services to market. <\/p>\n\n\n
