UK-based L-Charge has in Amsterdam launched its mobile off-grid EV charging service in Amsterdam. The key feature of the service is that the charger can be called as a cab service and charge an EV at any location on demand, the company said in a press release.
“The company’s solutions remove the biggest barrier for EV owners in Amsterdam – the lack of supercharging infrastructure – and offer benefits to companies within various sectors, including leisure and hospitality, retail, car manufacturing, vehicle rental and fleet management, from entering a new ultra-fast charging market,” said a representative of L-Charge.
Natural gas to hydrogen
The mobile EV charger is a mini power plant for fast charging of electric vehicles. The main feature of the L-Charge solution is its ability to convert engine operation from natural gas to hydrogen when hydrogen is released. It takes 10-20 minutes to charge a car to 80 percent. One mobile L-Charge station can charge 24 electric cars per day.
Facilitate transition to electric transportation
Dutch EV users face the same problem as their counterparts in other countries: current EV charging points are slow and hard to find in remote areas. Given these obstacles, the EV infrastructure needs off-grid superchargers, which will continue to use clean fuels and prepare assistance to facilitate the transition to electric transport.
